Students majoring in project management are not eligible for the project management certificate.

The objective of the 项目管理 证书 is to equip students with the skills necessary to start a project management role and be successful with minimal onboarding. The skills range from the hard skills that often overlap with project management requirements to more process-oriented skills such as agile methodologies 质量保证.

Students completing this certificate will be able to:

  1. Critically assess the application of waterfall and agile methodologies for different projects within a business context, and justify their decisions and any associated financial investment.
  2. Construct detailed project plans that take into account scope, 资源约束, 依赖关系, 质量保证.
  3. Ensure 质量 of execution for a given project and complete projects that adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Training in Microsoft Project and other tools, and

*The 项目管理 courses are offered remotely via NWU's partnership with a Consortium. The partnership allows students to earn NWU credit for specific courses. Classes are designed by top academics and industry leaders, 由NWU审核, and taught by experts in the field.

NOTE: Students with a major or minor in 项目管理 are not eligible for the 项目管理 证书. Students enrolled in the certificate program who are interested in pursuing the 项目管理 bachelor's degree major instead must change from the certificate to the bachelor program before enrolling in the last course toward the certificate.

BUSAD 1650 Introduction to 项目管理 (3小时)

This course will introduce students to the power of effective project management through two primary frameworks: waterfall and agile. Students will also learn vital project-management concepts applicable to a wider range of industries and occupations. This course is an online class offered through the Lower Cost Models Consortium. The class has optional live sessions.

BUSAD 2550项目规划 (3小时)

Any successful project starts with a plan. This course provides students with a deep understanding of project planning. Projects are a series of tradeoffs between scope, 成本, 和时间, so students will need to learn how to balance them to create a realistic and achievable plan. Students will also learn to leverage resources and manage risk, 质量, and stakeholder expectations to ensure project success. This course is an online class offered through the Lower Cost Models Consortium. The class has optional live sessions.

Prerequisite(s): Grade of "C-" or better in BUSAD 1650 Introduction to 项目管理.

BUSAD 4250 Advanced 项目管理 (3小时)

This course is intended to culminate a student's work in 项目管理. Students will work in groups to manage a simulated project from scope to competition, encountering and overcoming challenges and complications along the way. This course will also provide students with an overview of the product life cycle, 治理, and other topics to help contextualize project work. This course is an online class offered through the Lower Cost Models Consortium.
